The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requires new drivers who are at least 18 years old with a New York State photo-learner permit to complete a 5 hour Pre-Licensing course before they are permitted to register for their road test and qualify for their driver license. National Driving and Traffic School's Online 5 Hour Pre-Licensing course meets these requirements.

First time drivers with a learner permit interested in registering for National Driving and Traffic School's Pre-Licensing course should take note that Class DJ and MJ license applicants are not eligible to register for a pre-licensing course. Individuals intending to register for an online pre-licensing course must be at least 18 years old and have a valid photo learner permit ready. Students are required to provide their date of birth, name, and other personal identifying information as it appears on their photo learner permit. If the information is found to be different from what appears on the learner permit, a registered student will not earn any credit for the completion of this course, and will not be able to register to take their road test to qualify for thier driver license.
